Saxophone Rhythm Kings

The NMS Saxophone Rhythm Kings got started in the fall of 2016 with some former members of the NMS Rhythm Kings. It turned out to be a saxophone ensemble, initially with soprano, alto, baritone, and tuba. We soon found a pianist and then a student who plays tenor and clarinet. Because of the instrumentation we began to explore the music of Ellington, Bechet, and Horace Silver. We performed in Jazz Department Recitals at the Neighborhood Music School, and at a holiday showcase at New Haven's IKEA store in December of 2017.
